HEARDS DESIGN PARTNERSHIP
Scanning, Reprographics and Fine Art Print
We are one of the very few dedicated fine art scanning studios in the west country. At Heard's Design Partnership we're able to offer artists and galleries a high quality, large format scanning system in order to be able to reproduce their work to a higher quality and from much larger sized originals. This is especially for large canvases and paintings which normal flat-bed scanners are unable to copy. Our photographic studio is equipped for still life shooting for ceramics, glass etc.
The hub of this system is a powerful, Phase One FX1 digital scanner. This has the capability of producing single files up to 360mb in one take at 135 megapixels.
This technology is rare in the region and gives us the facility to scan original paintings and drawings which previously would have had to have been photographed. Heavy impastos and pastels can also be scanned more successfully.
Coupled with our 24" and 44" Giclée printers we endeavour to give our clients the best digital reproduction in the South West.
In the last ten years or so, Giclée printing (high quality, light resistant, digital prints) have become the most popular way for artists to reproduce their paintings and prints. This is a digital reprographic process, not to be confused with screen printing, lithography, even letterpress and intaglio processes such as etching. Computers have enabled artists, amateur and professional alike, to print short run editions of their work using light resistant inks on specialist coated papers and canvases.
Ian and Eve Heard recognized the need for artists to be able to talk to their printmaker on their own terms and with their own particular requirements. As such their artists/clients can be assured of a dedicated service and quality print.
The process starts with the production of scanning the artwork. Our Scanner studio is a Phase One FX1 digital scanner. This has the capability of producing single files up to 360mb in one take at 135 megapixels. Files are transfered to one of our main studio Macs and colour managed(proofed) to match your original artwork, undertake any retouching or make any additional changes. Once you are happy with your proof, all files are backed up and the final prints run. We use pH neutral archival papers and canvases.
