HEARDS DESIGN PARTNERSHIP
Illustration, painting and printmaking
Ian Heard has been a professional illustrator for over thirty years. His clients include most of our leading publishers, many leading blue chip companies, designers, agencies and private clients in this country and abroad. He has designed and has been involved in the production of many illustrated book, especially in the historical schoolbooks market, Africa and the middle east, and especially in nautical publishing.
He worked with yacht magazine Yachting Monthly for many years as well as for Cruising World in the US. He has also been commissioned by specific marine projects from hardware manufacturers to yacht designers.
He wrote, illustrated and produced his own book, Classic Boats of the West Country for Bossiney books which is currently in it's second edition, and recently produced a second, Cornish Ports and Harbours as well as producing two books of cartoons for his local west country market. Some paintings are available as prints and there is a gallery section on this web site.
In recent years Ian Heard has become more involved in the fine art painting and prints market. His etchings have proved popular and his water colours have been bought by buyers as far away as California and Zurich. Most recently he has returned to oil, exhibiting in group and solo shows. He has shown successfully in London and in other galleries across the south of the country. Though once describes as "heroic and traditional" he is developing his work along more contemporary lines and is even producing entirely digital renderings in a pastelesque style. One such was commissioned by the Royal Navy of their ship HMS Enterprise.
He is often invited to talk and demonstrate to art groups and a series of workshops are planned for 2011. We hope to be able to offer students a fun and informative series of talks, and are already canvassing support from many artists.
