Fine Art Printing

Fine art print for artists and galleries

For over ten years, Heard's Design has provided a fine art quality digital reproduction service to many artist across the region. We are able to print on a wide range of coated papers and canvases and, as artists ourselves, regard our role as artists print-makers, working alongside our clients to produce the best reproduction of their work. Allied to our specialist scanning facility, we like to think we offer artists and illustrators a one-to-one service and produce limited editions that they can be proud of.

Some of our artists have successfully run through their whole editions, But equally one off projects are regularly undertaken for some clients. We are pleased to offer galleries and collections a dedicated archiving  service, scanning and proofing where necessary and saving to our hard drives for long term storage.

We operate 24" and 44" Epson stylus printers, using K3 Ultrachrome inks and only print on archive quality media. We do our best to maintain stocks of specific papers and keep an eye on market trends and new printing papers.

Faraway Island Editions

Faraway Island Giclée was originally formed as a brand under which all our print work operated. More recently entitled Heard's Design, Artists Printmakers, Faraway Island Editions now functions as the publishing section of our work, reproducing and publishing the work of a small number of our own dedicated artists.

Ian Heard

Faraway Island Editions was originally created to produce Ian's own works. He is publishing selected images from both his books as well as other pieces. His original paintings of the Cornish coast and nearby Dartmoor are finding homes across the world and his books have gone as far as Alaska. He also produces purely digital images on a graphics tablet, creating lush colour depths with the unconventional medium. His humorous pieces are popular with cat lovers and stem from his successful greetings cards and fun books.

John Raynes RI

We have known John for many years, having initially worked along side him during our student years. We consider him to be one of the best figure artists in the country and his recent landscape work is equally breathtaking. Faraway Island is delighted to be able to publish a select number of sketches and studies as limited editions. For those who know John's work, these are an insight into the drawing process and one can follow the lines and brush marks over the page, as if watching a master at work.

Mary Ann Green

We have worked alongside Mary Ann (Possum) Green since 2006 as printmakers for her own editions of the Scillies and Ireland. It is her dancers that we are pleased to be publishing under our own imprint. Her work for the Rembert Dance Company and Shellal Dance Theatre have provided this artist with the perfect vehicle for her vibrant drawings of the moving figure. Similarly her studies of what she calls "beach babes" shows off her free form skills to lovely advantage. She is an inspiring drawer and in these prints  we glimpse an acute mind at work.
