John Hurford print

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Half the pleasure of this job is we get to work with some amazing artists. Not least among these is John Hurford.

“Johnny” was a well known painter in the sixties, working for Oz magazine for one, and undertaking album covers and children’s books.  All of which feature in a book of his life and works.

We’ve done several fantastic pieces but the most recent is a stunning acrylic called Tiger Moths.  John was attracted by my insistence that I could scan it full size – 90 x 120cm –  and render better colour than a tranny.  The resulting prints are breathtaking.  I’m reprinting two earlier prints of a similar, highly detailed style. for collection this week.

NEW PRINTS

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Finally catching up with print and studio news.  The long awaited final, full sized print for mary Ann Green, ‘Sara Dreaming’ is now available.  I spent a lovely afternoon going over proofs in her cottage in St Ives. A haven of colour and creativity. Last minute tweaks and we ran the first 10.  It’s beautiful drawing of a resting dancer, commended in the Jerwood Prize and rightly so, and measuring 610cms square or thereabout.  Prints are available from us or the artist direct.  Size and price to be confirmed.

networking event

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Heards Design Partnership attended a networking, business to business, event last night.  Very interesting and in the Elizabethan farm buildings of Buckland Abbey (NT)  People very interested in the new scanner and amazed the work on show was actually printed by us and not the original!!  Check out the scanner info on www.farawayislands.co.uk or follow the links from HDP home page.  More later, especially new works from Mary Ann Green and John Hurford. Stunning.

Summer break in blogs – Autumn coming

Sorry to anyone who followed the studio news.  We’ve had a break from communication due to stuff, but will be updating soon with new works by exciting artists, new book projects completed (hence the lull in blog) and news for the coming months.  Be back soon
