Painting and Drawing Workshops
Summer Workshops at the studio in oil painting and acrylics
This summer, we’re introducing oil and acrylic painting workshops at the studio at Higher Tor. These sessions are aimed at artists who’ve never painted in oils and would like to learn about the techniques, and those who have but need some inspiration to develop.
We’ll also cover acrylic paints for those who prefer, but will work towards impasto paint techniques. These will be small workshops for three painters per session, so Ian will be able to devote plenty of time to each person, demonstrating and encouraging as he does at the watercolour workshops.
Basic equipment will be provided: lightweight easels, primed boards, oil paper for sketches, a selection of brushes, a range of paints and media, but artists are encouraged to bring their own favourite kit with them.
We’ll cover basic techniques; glazing, impasto, working fat over lean, composition and picture construction, and some work outdoors in the landscape.
The studio workshops are on consecutive Wednesdays for six weeks from mid July to the
end of August. Please contact Ian to book your place on any of the days you would like.
10 am to 4pm: Wed 20 July, Wed 27 July, Wed 3 August, Wed 10 August,
Wed 17 August, Wed 24 August
Please bring a packed lunch. Tea, coffee and cake will be provided
throughout the day.
